An automated rights-management action
A claim usually affects the individual video. Depending on the claimant’s policy, the video may remain online, generate revenue for the claimant, be tracked or be blocked in certain territories.
Understand YouTube Content ID, exclusive-reference requirements, claims, disputes, distributor self-claims and the correct use of non-exclusive Soul Chemist samples.
Commercial permission and Content ID eligibility are different. A Soul Chemist licence can permit you to release and monetise a finished production without giving you exclusive ownership of every underlying sound or automatic eligibility for Content ID.
Content ID compares uploaded videos with reference audio supplied by participating rights holders. A match can apply a policy such as monetising, tracking or blocking the video.
A claim usually affects the individual video. Depending on the claimant’s policy, the video may remain online, generate revenue for the claimant, be tracked or be blocked in certain territories.
A strike follows a legal copyright removal request and is more serious. A normal Content ID claim does not usually create a strike by itself.
Standard Sample Packs, Drum Kits, Bundles and MPC Expansions are generally licensed non-exclusively. Other authorised customers may use the same sounds in their own legitimate productions.
A distributor or rights-management provider may submit your track as reference audio. Before enabling that service, confirm that every part used for matching satisfies the provider’s current rules.
If a reference includes a non-exclusive loop or another element you do not control exclusively, the reference provider should prevent that section from generating claims rather than claiming the entire track indiscriminately.
A track can be commercially licensed for release on YouTube and streaming services even when it is not appropriate for unrestricted automated claiming.
Upload and monetise a qualifying production under the applicable Soul Chemist licence.
Do not tell a distributor that all underlying material is exclusive when standard non-exclusive samples are present.
Disable Content ID or another rights destination when the provider’s exclusive-control requirements are not satisfied.
Save the order, invoice, product name, release details and distributor correspondence.
Commercial release permission≠Exclusive Content ID reference rightsA claim can be correct, incorrect or caused by a distributor reference that contains shared material. Identify the exact match before choosing an action.
Check the claimant, matched audio, timestamps, territories and whether the policy monetises, tracks or blocks.
Compare the matched section with your project and the exact Soul Chemist product used.
Locate the invoice, order number, licence and any written permission connected to the release.
Leave a valid claim, remove the matched content or dispute only when you hold the necessary rights.
Only challenge a claim when the licence and facts genuinely support you. Repeated misuse of the dispute process can lead to penalties, and a claimant may submit a copyright removal request.
This can happen when a release has been enrolled in automated rights management and the channel has not been excluded or allowlisted by the provider.
Ask whether the channel can be allowlisted, released from the claim or excluded from future claims under their current system.
Provide channel details to the distributor where whitelisting is available and permitted by the agreement.
If the match is caused by a standard non-exclusive sound, instruct the provider to review and release the legitimate conflict.
Ask the reference provider to exclude the shared section or disable automated claiming for the affected release.
Every authorised customer retains the commercial rights granted by their licence. Automated systems should not be used to interfere with legitimate productions made from the same non-exclusive source material.
Select the closest scenario. Your distributor or rights-management provider may impose additional requirements.
Commercial release is permitted under the applicable licence. Content ID should only be enabled when the exact reference satisfies the provider’s exclusive-rights requirements.
A complete record helps Soul Chemist, your distributor or a platform understand whether the match comes from authorised sample use or another protected element.

It is YouTube’s automated matching system for participating copyright owners. Reference audio is compared with uploaded videos and an assigned policy can monetise, track or block a match.
No. A claim usually affects the video and normally does not create a strike. A strike follows a copyright removal request and can affect the channel.
Yes, when the product licence covers the intended use. Releasing the finished song does not mean the underlying standard samples can be claimed as exclusively yours.
Only when the distributor accepts the release and its reference material satisfies the provider’s exclusive-rights rules. Standard non-exclusive sounds must not generate claims against legitimate users.
No. Standard raw samples, exposed production loops and other non-exclusive library assets must not be submitted as exclusively owned reference material.
No. Processing may create a distinctive production, but it does not automatically transfer exclusive ownership of the source material.
The release may have been enrolled in automated rights management while your channel remained outside the provider’s allowlist. Contact the distributor and request the supported channel-release or allowlisting procedure.
Review and release the legitimate conflict. A standard non-exclusive licence does not permit either customer to block the other’s authorised production.
Dispute only when you have the necessary rights, the match is incorrect or the claimant is improperly claiming shared material. Keep supporting documents ready.
No. Credit, owning a copy or choosing not to monetise are not by themselves valid reasons to dispute a claim.
Yes. YouTube can apply different availability rules to claimed Shorts depending on their length and current platform policy. Review the exact restriction shown in YouTube Studio.
The claimant is notified and can release or reinstate the claim, or take another permitted action. Follow the current timeline and options shown inside YouTube Studio.
A strike is more serious than a Content ID claim. Read YouTube’s removal notice carefully and consider qualified legal advice before sending a counter-notification.
