MPC Installation Guide

Install your Soul Chemist expansion correctly on MPC Standalone, MPC Beats, MPC 2 or MPC 3 and start creating without broken paths, missing samples or unnecessary setup.

Extract the download before doing anything else. Do not drag the compressed ZIP into MPC Software and do not copy the ZIP itself to your MPC drive. Work only with the extracted files inside it.

The .xpn file

Imports artwork, programs, pad mappings and sounds into the Expansion Browser inside MPC Beats, MPC 2 or MPC 3.

Use on: Windows or macOS

HARDWARE INSTALL

The Standalone folder

A complete pre-built expansion folder designed to sit inside an Expansions directory on your MPC storage.

Use on: Supported standalone hardware

WAV

UNIVERSAL AUDIO

The content folder

Contains the original audio. Use sounds individually, create new programs or load them directly in another DAW or sampler.

Use on: Any WAV-compatible software

IMPORTANT

Do not rename or separate internal files.

MPC programs reference specific sample locations. Renaming folders, moving samples or copying only part of the expansion can create missing-file errors.

FASTEST HARDWARE METHOD

Install directly in MPC Standalone

Use this method when your download contains a prepared Standalone expansion folder.

PREPARE THE DRIVE

Connect your storage to the computer

Use an SD card, USB drive or compatible internal user drive with enough free space.

CREATE THE MAIN DIRECTORY

Make a folder named exactly “Expansions”

Create it at the top level—or root—of the destination drive.

COPY THE COMPLETE PACK

Place the whole expansion folder inside it

Copy the named pack folder itself. Do not copy only the loose programs, artwork or samples.

FINISH THE TRANSFER

Wait and eject safely

Do not remove the drive while files are copying. Use the operating system’s safe-eject command.

OPEN THE EXPANSION

Go to Browser and open Expansions

Your Soul Chemist artwork should appear. Open the pack and select a program.

START CREATING

Load a kit and test the pads

The full program should load with its mapped sounds. Save your project to your own user storage.

MPC BEATS · MPC 2 · MPC 3

Install the .xpn in MPC Software

This installs the expansion into the MPC Expansion Browser on your computer.

Extract the ZIP download

Locate the file ending in .xpn. It must be outside the compressed archive.

Open MPC Software

Launch MPC Beats, MPC 2 or MPC 3 and allow it to finish loading.

Drag the .xpn into the application

Drag the extracted .xpn directly onto the open MPC Software window.

Confirm the import

Approve the expansion import and wait until the process completes.

Open the Expansion Browser

Select the Expansions category. The pack artwork should now be visible.

Load a program

Choose a kit or program and load it into your current project.

ALTERNATIVE HARDWARE METHOD

Export an installed expansion to Standalone

Import the .xpn on your computer first, then let MPC Software create the hardware-ready copy.

MPC 2

File → Export → Expansions

Connect the destination drive.
Open File → Export → Expansions.
Select the Soul Chemist expansion.
Choose the external drive.
Export and wait for confirmation.

MPC 3

File → Tools → Expansion Manager

Connect the destination storage.
Open File → Tools → Expansion Manager.
Choose Export and select the pack.
Select the external drive.
Finish before ejecting the drive.

USING A DRIVE INSTALLED INSIDE YOUR MPC?

Put the MPC into Controller Mode first.

The computer must see the destination drive before MPC Software can export to it. Connect the hardware, enter Controller Mode and confirm that the user drive appears.

UNIVERSAL WORKFLOW

Use the original WAV files anywhere.

The mapped programs and artwork belong to MPC, but the audio itself can be used in any compatible DAW or sampler.

No MPC installation is required.

Open the extracted WAV or Content folder and drag individual files into your project, sampler or drum rack.

TROUBLESHOOTING

Fix the most common installation problems.

Most errors come from an unextracted ZIP, an incorrect folder level or a partial transfer.

The .xpn does not import when I drag it into MPC +

Confirm that the download is fully extracted. Drag the actual file ending in .xpn into the open MPC application—not the ZIP, a shortcut or its containing folder.

The expansion does not appear in the Standalone Browser +

Check that it is located exactly at Drive / Expansions / Pack Name /. The Expansions folder must be at the root and the full named pack folder must remain inside it.

The program loads but reports missing samples +

The structure was changed or the copy is incomplete. Delete the damaged copy, extract the original download again and transfer the entire folder without renaming anything.

The kit loads but the pads make no sound +

Check for missing-file warnings, the selected program track, main output, pad mute state and project routing. Load another included program to isolate the cause.

My MPC drive is not visible on the computer +

For a drive installed in the MPC, connect the hardware directly and enter Controller Mode. For removable media, connecting the SD card or USB drive directly to the computer is often simplest.

The transfer stops or the folder is incomplete +

Check free space, reconnect the drive and copy again from a fresh extraction. Never remove storage while data is being written and always eject safely.

I created an Expansions folder but the pack is still missing +

Make sure it is not nested inside another folder. The structure must begin at the drive root: Drive / Expansions / Pack Name /.

The import finished but the pack is not visible in MPC Software +

Close and reopen MPC Software, then check the Expansion Browser. Confirm that the correct .xpn was imported without an error.

Do I need inMusic Software Center? +

No. Soul Chemist expansions purchased here are delivered directly as downloadable files. Use the supplied .xpn, Standalone folder or WAV content.

Should I install on the factory content drive? +

Use removable storage or a compatible user drive instead of modifying protected factory content. This keeps third-party packs separate and easier to back up.

Do I need to update MPC first? +

Keeping desktop software and standalone firmware current is recommended, especially before exporting between computer and hardware.

I followed every step and it still does not work +
