Always extract the ZIP first. A ZIP is the delivery container, not the sound format. Open or extract the downloaded archive before dragging WAV files into a DAW or importing an XPN into MPC Software.

Bundles can contain many folders and formats. Open the main directory first and follow the structure of each included product.
Some releases include extras such as MIDI patterns, previews, artwork, PDF instructions or bonus folders. A format is included only when the individual product description states that it is supplied.
Using the wrong file for the wrong task is the most common cause of compatibility confusion. Each format below has a different purpose.
A ZIP keeps a large product organized during delivery. It is not an audio file, instrument or MPC program.
The main format used for Soul Chemist samples, drum sounds, breaks and source audio because it is widely supported and lossless.
An XPN installs artwork, programs and mapped content into MPC Beats, MPC 2 or MPC 3. It is not a normal audio file.
A prepared folder containing programs, mappings, artwork and referenced audio for supported standalone MPC hardware.
MIDI contains note, timing and velocity information. It does not contain the actual drum or melodic sound.
A PDF may contain installation notes, access instructions, licensing information or product documentation.
You do not install a WAV file. Browse it from your DAW or drag it into a track, sampler, drum rack or pad.
Other DAWs cannot use an XPN directly. Use MPC Software or open the included WAV library instead.
A MIDI file only triggers notes. Load an instrument, drum kit or sampler program to hear it correctly.
Search for your software or hardware. “Direct” means the supplied file can be used without converting it or opening it through another host.

Via MPC: The XPN is opened in MPC Software or the MPC plug-in, not directly by the host DAW.
Direct*: Standard WAV audio is compatible, but older hardware can impose model-specific sample-rate, bit-depth, filename or storage restrictions.
You do not need a special installer for Sample Packs or Drum Kits. Keep the library in a permanent location and add that folder to your normal browser.
Moving or renaming a library after a sampler, project or MPC program has referenced it can create missing-file warnings. Keep one master folder, create a backup and avoid working directly from the ZIP or Downloads folder.
Soul Chemist product pages describe the supplied audio as high-quality WAV. Exact technical specifications can vary by release, so do not assume a specific bit depth or sample rate unless the product page states it.
Ableton Live, FL Studio, Logic Pro, Cubase and other current DAWs can normally load standard WAV files and adapt them to the current project workflow.
Unnecessary conversion does not improve the original sound. Keep the supplied master files and create converted copies only for hardware or software that requires them.
Legacy hardware may require a particular bit depth, sample rate, mono format, filename length or storage format. Check the manual for the exact model.
Search by error, file extension, software or symptom. Most problems are solved by extracting the archive again or using the correct file for the application.
This is expected. A ZIP is only a delivery archive. Extract it first, then open the WAV, MIDI, PDF or XPN files found inside.
WAV files are not plug-ins and do not require installation. Store them in a permanent folder, add that location to your DAW browser or drag the files directly into a project or sampler.
An XPN is designed for MPC Beats, MPC 2 or MPC 3. Extract the download, open MPC Software and import the XPN there. Other DAWs should use the included WAV files or host the MPC plug-in.
Open MPC Installation Guide →MIDI contains performance data, not audio. Route it to a software instrument, drum sampler or loaded kit. You may also need to adjust the MIDI channel, note mapping or tempo.
Check the project sample rate, sampler root-note settings, warping or time-stretch mode. Import the original file again without automatic stretching to identify whether the change comes from the DAW.
The source library was probably moved, renamed or disconnected. Reconnect the drive or point the DAW to the new folder. Once relinked, collect or save the project with its required audio when your software supports that option.
Check that the full download finished and extract a fresh copy of the ZIP. Do not open files directly from a partially synchronized cloud folder. If the same file still fails, contact support with the product and filename.
You can use the WAV files in compatible mobile production apps, but extracting and organizing large packs is usually easier on a computer. XPN and Standalone expansion installation should follow the dedicated MPC workflow.
Modern WAV compatibility does not guarantee that every legacy device accepts every WAV specification. Check the model’s required sample rate, bit depth, mono or stereo support, filename rules and storage format, then create a converted copy while keeping the original.
Website audio can use a streaming-friendly preview format, while the purchased production files are delivered in the format listed on the product page—normally high-quality WAV for sample-based products.
Large bundles combine multiple independent products. Preserve the main structure, extract each archive where required and treat every included Sample Pack, Drum Kit or MPC Expansion according to its own format.
